Chinese Martial Arts
On June 5th, WIS’s CSL students went on a field trip to Raffles City’s EDU Education Centre. With Chinese Martial Arts Master, Lu Wenjing, they practised Chinese Martial Arts and learned how and when to use this skill. The students not only watched the master perform moves on a wooden dummy and use a Wing Chun stick in real life, but they also learned how to perform basic moves with the master. These moves are known as Xiaoniantou, the simplest form of Wing Chun Martial Arts. By practising, the students learned more about Chinese Martial Arts. Meanwhile, they also learned how to defend themselves against others.
In order to help students better understand the process of making newspapers, on January 16th, 2019, their Chinese Culture teacher led WIS fourth and fifth grade classes to Fuyang, Hangzhou to explore an ancient village known for paper making. With their teachers, they visited a local workshop and learned about the whole process of papermaking.
