On May 15th, the eight-week long 2026 PYP Exhibit came to a meaningful close.
More than a final showcase of the IB Primary Years Programme, PYPX is a milestone in every student’s inquiry journey — a moment when children begin to see themselves not only as learners, but also as researchers, communicators, collaborators, and changemakers.
For eight weeks, Grade 5 students explored real-world issues that mattered deeply to them. Through research, interviews, surveys, observations, collaboration, and reflection, they transformed curiosity into understanding — and understanding into action.
This is what authentic IB inquiry looks like at WIS.
The defining feature of PYPX is that students truly take ownership of their learning (Learner Agency).
At the start of the project, teachers did not provide standard answers or predetermined topics. Instead, students were encouraged to start from their own interests, observations, and questions to identify real issues they felt passionate about researching.
These topics were never just “classroom assignments”; they stemmed from the children’s natural curiosity and deep concern for the real world.
Throughout the inquiry cycle — from tuning in and finding out, to sorting out, going further, taking action, and reflecting — students moved step by step through their exciting inquiries, while meticulously documenting every milestone of their research in the Student Exhibition Journal.
With the guidance of mentors and parents, students learned how to formulate meaningful questions, evaluate information reliability, construct evidence-based viewpoints, and practice active listening during collaboration. In doing so, they naturally developed the ATL skills and IB Learner Profile attributes that sit at the very heart of an IB education.
At the exhibition, ten groups presented their deep inquiries centered around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)。
“Action” became one of the defining keywords of this year’s PYPX. Students masterfully applied the MISO research approach — gathering qualitative and quantitative data through Media research, Interviews, Surveys, and Observations — to explore real-world issues from multiple perspectives.
Learning is not only about gaining knowledge; it is about understanding the world and attempting to create positive change within it. This seamless transition from identifying problems to taking action is one of the most valuable outcomes of an IB education.

For our Grade 5 students, PYPX may mark the grand finale of their primary school chapter, but it is, in every sense, a brand-new commencement.
Over these past weeks, they did not just learn to research, present, and collaborate; more importantly, they learned to ask critical questions, analyze the complexities of our world, and respond courageously with action.
When education weaves seamlessly into reality, learning transcends the boundaries of textbooks.
Stepping confidently through the gateway of PYPX, our students are fully prepared to transition from PYP to MYP. The world ahead is vast and full of wonder—and they are ready to soar.
