To support our students’ progress, we assign each student a teacher advisor to track all aspects of his/her development – academic, social, and emotional. In addition, our School Counselor works closely with families to identify the most suitable high school options for their students and assist them with applications, whether they choose to continue at WIS and the upcoming IB Diploma Programme, or go elsewhere.
This is especially important for students considering schooling overseas. There are thousands of boarding school options for students in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia, ranging in size from large (over 1,000 students) to small (around 100 students), in urban, suburban and rural settings, and both coeducational and single sex, each with its own unique ethos. Finding the “best fit” for the student can be a daunting task, as there is no “best school” – there is only the best school for each student. Our experienced High School Counseling team guides parents and students through the entire school selection and application process – identifying suitable schools, arranging visits and interviews, scheduling standardized tests, expediting applications and counseling both families and students in all their concerns.
Summer holidays provide students interested in overseas school with a special opportunity to expand their learning, challenge themselves, and improve their English in a new, experiential and enjoyable environment. WIS provides families with a wealth of information on international camps and summer school programs so students can use the valuable summer months in a constructive and enjoyable way.
Where are they now?
WIS graduates can be found in excellent international programs throughout China and around the world, including the United States, Australia, and the UK. Here are some of our former students’ comments on their experiences in their new environments and their preparation at WIS.
