As we welcome the arrival of 2024, it marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing educational journey at Wahaha International School. Reflecting on the past year, our progress and growth have mirrored seeds firmly taking root and flourishing under the guiding light of innovation and wisdom.
Throughout 2023, our focus on academic exploration and the integration of diverse cultures has been instrumental. Just like small streams merging into a river, the accumulation of knowledge has steadily been enriching the educational landscape. Students have been encouraged to freely roam the vast garden of knowledge, fostering exploration, understanding, and a vision for the future.
As we step into the new year, let us take a moment to appreciate the noteworthy achievements and invaluable lessons learned during the educational voyage of 2023 at WIS.
January
aMAZEing Learning
January sees the revival of all things, as one of the delayed projects of the WIS Winter Show 2022, themed “Sustainability” due to the pandemic — the magical maze, aMAZEing Learning, made its official debut.
The students led all the way, from the poster designs, and maze construction, to station layout and guidance. Together the WIS students completed an immersive learning journey about “Sustainability”.
February
Winter Show-Sustainability
Chinese Pocket Books
The 2022 Winter Show of Wahaha Schools adopted the theme of “Sustainability”, calling on every student and community member to take a serious interest in social issues that go beyond oneself and contribute to a sustainable future through concrete actions, keeping the big picture in mind.
WIS has independently researched and compiled a set of “Chinese Classics Pocket Books”, which condense thousands of years of traditional Chinese culture into small-sized books that can easily fit into children’s pockets.
March
MYP Math Club
Car Disassembly
Charity Dinner
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the WIS MYP Math Club, an innovative program aimed at providing our most talented students with a competitive edge in solving a wide range of math problems.
The main goal of the WIS MYP Math Club is to empower our students with the essential skills and knowledge required for success in diverse math competitions, such as Singapore Math, IGCSE style, and major math contests. At the same time, students also have the opportunity to explore different applications of math, i.e. Engineering, Economics and Encryption etc. They can also develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in math club.
In March, we also conducted a “practical learning” session.
WIS students, using a soon-to-be-scrapped Honda Accord as material, engaged in an immersive learning and practical experience focused on mechanical principles, engineering design, and industrial manufacturing. This initiative aimed to enhance their hands-on skills and foster creative thinking.
The 5th anniversary charity dinner jointly organized by 3J Education Development Foundation and Wahaha Schools was successfully held at Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou! A total of 170 people attended this event, including parents, teachers and caring people.
April
Juilliard Music Workshop
Week Without Walls
On April, WIS collaborated with the Tianjin Juilliard School to host an exceptional music workshop, offering students the chance to attend masterclasses and culminating music concert.
Kayaking, go-karting, water parks, bonfire parties… G5 and MYP students arrived at Qiandao Lake, embarking on a three-day educational journey! Our goal was to let every child feel the breath of the lake and mountains, touch the warmth of nature, and foster excellent qualities such as equality, self-reliance, courage, harmony, and unity during the trip.

PYP Exhibition
Graduation Ceremony
The stage in June belonged to a feast of music and talent, igniting the entire summer with passionate music performances and awe-inspiring stage acts.
At the Art Fair, students displayed their unique and wonderful artistic creations from art classes. Whether it was painting or handicrafts, each piece was a manifestation of the students’ beautiful and creative artistic ability, allowing everyone involved to immerse themselves in the charm of art.
The PYP Exhibition is a concluding inquiry activity for students in the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), marking a milestone as they transition to MYP. Under the theme “Sharing the Planet,” WIS G5 students explored global issues such as climate change, air pollution, marine life conservation, the coexistence between humans and animals, and the impact of human wars on natural resources. Through interdisciplinary learning and research, they sought effective solutions to these public and environmental issues. This activity always aims to develop students’ awareness of global challenges and enhance their problem-solving skills, providing a solid foundation for their future learning and growth.
July is the season of harvest, and the graduation bells have rung for another class at WIS. As the graduates embark on a new journey, the wish is that each one may spread their wings and shine brightly on the stage of life!
