“History is soooo boring. All we learn are dates.” NOT at WIS!
In the Eighth grade Chinese Culture class students have had the unique opportunity to experience Chinese long, rich culture first hand. In January our kids went to the National Silk Museum where the importance of this commodity was displayed; along with how China developed the technology to produce silk. This learning beyond the classroom was continued in May with a boat ride and trip to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum. Here, after studying, reading and researching, the students saw firsthand why it is called the GRAND Canal. The highlight of this trip was walking across the oldest bridge in Hangzhou, while barges went underneath continuing the commercial legacy set forth by the Sui Dynasty.
