Summer always holds delightful surprises. At the end of this semester, WIS is thrilled to present two captivating fairs: Science Fair and Art & Design Fair.
The Science Fair and Art Fair at WIS are the perfect opportunities for students to showcase their learning outcomes—today, let’s step into these two vibrant exhibitions and witness the brilliance of their academic achievements and boundless creativity!
Part 1
Science Fair-
Witness the Power of Knowledge
At WIS, the Science Fair is an annual celebration of curiosity and innovation, highlighting student learning and achievements in the Science curriculum.
At the Science Fair, students from each grade level are required to apply their scientific knowledge and ATL skills—such as thinking skills, communication skills and self management skills—to collaborate in teams and complete their unique challenges.
G1 students created diverse habitat models to showcase the living environments of different species. From the Amazon rainforest to polar ice caps, they meticulously reconstructed ecosystems, allowing visitors to observe how organisms adapt to their unique survival conditions.
G2 students conducted a variety of experiments to demonstrate how matter changes under different conditions. Whether exploring the three states of matter or replicating acid-base neutralization reactions, they brought to life the fascinating transformations of substances through hands-on experimentation.
G3 students investigated natural disasters by applying geography and physics principles. They built models of volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis to explore their formation mechanisms and mitigation strategies, transforming abstract concepts into tangible, interactive displays.
G4 students delved into the mysteries of energy conversion, showcasing how wind and solar energy can be transformed into mechanical and electrical energy. Their projects reflected profound thinking about energy efficiency and sustainable solutions for the future.
G6 students challenged themselves to construct towering structures using interlocking designs. Teams competed to build the tallest and most stable tower, combining engineering creativity with precise structural planning.
G7 students Designed and tested wind turbines, measuring which turbine generated the most electricity—a lesson in renewable energy and aerodynamics.
G8 students applied Archimedes’ Principle to create boats that float and carry marbles, balancing design, function, and form.
G9 students built catapults using mechanics principles, merging science with fun and engaging the community with interactive trials.
Through hands-on exploration and teamwork, our young scientists turned inquiry into vibrant expression—highlighting their remarkable creativity and scientific spirit.
Part 2
Art & Design Fair
Exploring the Unity of Beauty and Creativity
Art & Design Fair is the “collective debut” of WIS students’ artistic and design works from the entire year.
The IB Art curriculum, spanning from primary to middle school, encourages students to explore themselves and the world through visual expression. Through deepening inquiry, students engage with various media such as drawing, sculpture, and design, developing both technical skills and creativity.
In this exhibition, we have displayed all the outstanding art works created by students throughout the academic year. These pieces tell stories of their growth, reflecting their diverse experiences and inspirations, and open a door for viewers to step into their imaginative worlds.
The Design Exhibition highlights MYP students’ solutions to real-world challenges, combining technical skills with creativity, critical thinking, media literacy, and collaboration.
-Selected Projects-
#AI Digital Imaging
Students use AI-powered tools to design eye-catching posters that showcase a topic, identity, and value. They apply design principles like color theory, typography, and composition to appeal to the target audience and stand out in a competitive market.
#Lighting Design
Students use the Design Cycle to create and refine LED lighting designs that balance aesthetics and sustainability. They apply design principles, use vector software, and employ laser-cutting techniques to produce precise, innovative results, building key skills in modern sustainable design.
#Cultural Design
The student demonstrates a thorough investigation into cultural traditions, showcasing an in-depth understanding of the chosen culture through visual communication. They explore the symbols, colors, and styles that represent different cultures around the world, and design a poster that communicates the unique identity of a chosen country or city.
#3D Printing
In the 3D design project, students explored the balance between form and function. Through class discussions and reflections, they identified how they applied creative thinking and gained deeper insight into the design process and the importance of combining aesthetics with functionality.
#Trash To Treasure
Students learn about the three Rs—reduce, reuse, and recycle—by turning unwanted materials into useful products. This hands-on project builds creativity, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of sustainability, while encouraging eco-friendly habits through discussions and reflection.
#Branding Design
Students take on the role of designers, creating branding for a new business, including logos, packaging, and a cohesive visual identity. They gain practical graphic design skills, learn to communicate with audiences, and understand brand identity principles to deliver tailored design solutions.
#Dream House
Students designed eco-friendly homes with solar panels, green roofs, organic gardens, and rainwater systems, enhancing collaboration and critical thinking. This project deepens their understanding of sustainability and inspires environmental consciousness for a healthier future.
As you walk through the exhibition, you’ll discover how creativity and beauty intertwine to reveal the vibrant inner lives of our students.
These two spectacular exhibitions are more than a celebration of learning—they’re a testament to the proactive spirit and innovative thinking of WIS students. They also serve as a powerful bridge between students and the wider community, inviting everyone to witness the richness of their educational journey.
Finally, we would also like to thank Mr. Tim, Ms. Diana, Ms. Divya, Mr. Romeo, Ms. Daria, Mr. Don, and Ms. Suki!
Every year brings new brilliance. We can’t wait to see what these young creators will dream up next!
