Dear Families,
Walk-A-Thon
The Walk-A-Thon was a massive success with music, laughter, fun, exercise, and color. Thank you to all the parents and teachers who came out to participate in this fabulous event.
Open-Mic Event
Prepare for our Open-Mic event this January 20th, where anyone… teachers, parents, and students can tell jokes, demonstrate magic, sing, read poetry, place instruments, and more on stage. Any talent is welcome for open-mic, and we encourage our entire WIS community to participate.
Parent University
Our most recent Parent University highlighted the transition from elementary school to middle school. It introduced our student counselors, who will be providing each WIS student with an individualized plan for their future. Please stay tuned for more information about the WIS scholarship program.
Our Fabulous Parents
Parents with any concerns can reach out to their PTA representative or arrange a meeting with Mr. Rob anytime. A special thanks to our PTA for their continued support of WIS students and teachers. Together we can make great things happen.
A special thank you to Lynn and Lukas’s families in Grades 3 & 6 for their very generous donation of masks to our school community.
NEW STAFF
We are excited to welcome Mr. Chris to our WIS Middle School Team as our new MYP Mathematics teacher joining WIS on January 4th, 2021.
Please also welcome Ms. Victoria, who is a passionate, curious, and patient doer and thinker. Victoria will be the new secretary to the Principal and arrives at WIS on January 4th, 2021. Victoria has a primary education major and has studied and traveled in nearly 15 countries in the United States and Europe during her undergraduate years, observing elementary classrooms in multiple countries and experimenting with her teaching practices.
Simultaneously, her working experience in various international organizations also gave her a deeper understanding of global education issues and educational equity. Victoria is very optimistic, approachable, and helpful. Ms. Iria will move on to support WIS and Wahaha schools as a translator and assistant to marketing and admission.
Travel over the Holiday
As the holiday approaches, it is essential to ensure we are all making safe decisions when traveling. It is advised not to travel to any medium to high-risk area and ultimately best to remain close to Hangzhou. We have prepared for the likelihood that the virus situation could take a turn for the worse, but if we all remain diligent, we can help to stay proactive in an uncertain time. Please be healthy and safe by wearing masks, limiting travel outside of Hangzhou, and keeping social distance.
Winter Show
Our winter show is all set and ready for Thursday, December 17th. Thank you to Ms. Alison and Ms. Amy for their continued devotion and efforts in preparing students and teachers for this fantastic event. Thank you also to our entire PTA for their efforts in supporting this exciting event also.
Early Dismissal
Friday, December 18th, 2020, WIS will dismiss all students at 2:00 p.m. to prepare for the holiday break. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, January 4th, 2021.
What does the Christmas Holiday Mean?
The holiday season is a time of year that many people attempt to rekindle their childhood feeling of innocence and wonder. This holiday is an excellent time to look around us and find something extraordinary about ourselves, life, and the people who fill it and make it memorable. Let’s all remember what it means to be alive in this beautiful world, to experience life – the joy, pain, achievements, and much more. From our entire WIS staff, we extend a very warm holiday greeting to all of you… our parents. Enjoy every minute of this holiday with those individuals you care about. Happy Holidays.
Thank you all for your valued support, and have a very Happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year.
