As an international school, WIS considers International Day one of its most traditional and largest events.
Through this activity, we hope students and families can learn about different countries and cultures, fostering global understanding and open-mindedness.
At the same time, it is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate diverse cultures.
This year’s theme — “Small Global Village, Inclusive Family” — reminds us that even though we come from different places, we are all part of one family, sharing one world.
The World Converges Here:
Grand Parade of National Flags
National Flag
The International Day begins with a vibrant global flag parade, where each flag symbolizes a culture, a history, and a spirit. This is not only a visual feast but also a celebration of diversity and the global community.
Global Cultural Showcase: Captivating Performances by Teachers and Students
Showcase
The WIS Teacher Band takes the stage first, instantly immersing the audience in a musical journey that transcends borders. Followed by an energetic K-pop dance performance, the show continues with dynamic street-style choreography that radiates youthful vitality. The powerful and rhythmic beats of Chinese drums then fill the air, complemented by a stunning dragon dance performance that captivates the crowd. Next, an Indian classical dance piece dazzles with vibrant traditional attire, graceful hand gestures, and expressive eye movements. Finally, the ‘Bohu Shuo’ program, a creative fusion of traditional Chinese culture and rap music, reimagines classics through modern beats, bringing the atmosphere to a fever pitch.
Receiving a “New Passport”:
Embark on a Global Adventure
#New Passport#
One of the most engaging highlights of the day is the distribution of a “WIS International Day Passport” to every student. Students must visit booths set up by teachers and parent volunteers, participate in activities, and collect stamps on their passports. Upon gathering 20 stamps, they can exchange them for a special prize.
An Aromatic Campus:
A Culinary Journey
Around the Globe
Culinary
The food zone steals the spotlight as the “star attraction” of International Day. Teachers and parent volunteers brought hometown specialties, ranging from handmade Italian pizza and Japanese sushi rolls to Lebanese chicken shawarma, South African Boerewors, Indian-spiced curries, Korean ramen, American hotdog, Southeast Asian snacks, Chinese traditional cuisine, African specialty drinks and snacks, French macaron, Turkish grilled kebabs and Jollyguud Yogurt and and healthy drinks, offering a dazzling array of delicacies that overwhelmed the senses.
Innovative Activity Booths:
Jump into a Sea of Joy
Joy
Joy is a central theme of the day. This year, we introduced massive “castles”—students bounced joyfully in the inflatable bouncy castle, enjoyed the thrill of ball-throwing pools, and engaged in diverse global cultural craft activities. They not only learned about cultural characteristics but also created souvenirs by hand.
Charity Booths:
Spreading Warmth Through Action
Charity Booths
The “Charity Booths” were specially established for the event, featuring participation from Rotary International, Stray Pet Utopia, and multiple social organizations. These booths seamlessly blend cultural exchange with social responsibility, encouraging students to give back to society through action. Such initiatives foster community harmony, strengthen mutual assistance, and enhance social cohesion.
Celebrating events like International Day, our students and staff will be able to Learn, Love, and Lead with an ever-increasing global perspective.
We see that no matter our differences, we are connected by imagination, hope, and heart.
Let’s cross borders, celebrate voices, and build new friendships.
Together, we are creating a world where everyone belongs.
At WIS, we educate, empower, and encourage students to become caring, confident, and responsible global citizens and lifelong learners.
Welcome to a journey around the world — and welcome home.
