Alisa Liu received a B.S. degree in Applied Chemistry from Liaocheng University, Shandong, in 2012 and an M.S. degree in Physical Chemistry from Tongji University, Shanghai, in 2017. She has five years’ working experience in Science/STEAM education.
Candice Zhang
Co-Head Chinese Department (MYP)
Candice comes from Jilin province and graduated from Brandeis University, with a Master of Arts in teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literacy. Candice has been teaching Chinese to K-12 and college students in the US for 5 years, as well as Chinese to native speakers for 3 years in an IB international school in China. From her educational experiences, she knows how valuable teacher encouragement and motivation are for student motivation. Candice is confident that students will learn a great deal while having fun in her Chinese class.
Ellen Chai
MYP Coordinator / Science
Ellen has three years of IB experience and IB certificates. She has taught MYP Science in one American International School in China and worked with the DP teachers for conducting DP labs. She holds Hawaii Teaching License: Science Grade 6-12, Illinois Professional Educator License Science Grade 5-12, and UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Certificate. She received a master's degree in Science from Ghent University with a full scholarship in 2014. Recently she obtained a Master's degree in Education.
Annabel He
Grade 1A Teacher
Annabel graduated from Changchun Normal University with her Bachelor's Degree in Bilingual Primary Education. Her education has prepared her to be very familiar with the psychology and educational needs of primary school students. In addition to those experiences, she also has her Chinese teaching qualification, STEM teaching experience, and various experiences in both public and international schools.
Anindita Sen
Grade 4A Teacher
Anindita was born and raised in India, with international school teaching experience of over 13 years across several countries. She is also a certified IB PYP teacher who has been residing in China since 2019. Anindita gains abundant joy from interacting with primary school children and always succeeded in getting the best out of them with her strong communication skills, thorough understanding of the curriculum requirements, and fair professional approach towards all.
Alison Liu

Alison graduated from Wuhan Conservatory of Music with her bachelor's degree (piano performance) and then studied for a Mperf degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. Currently, she is currently a member of EPTA. She likes all kinds of music though she is mainly classically trained. She has been exploring contemporary music for awhile. She has a particular interest in Messiaen, Gyorgy Ligeti, Henry Cowell, and luckily very recently had a chance to perform the composer Xiaogang Ye’s work in front of him and others when he visited RNCM. She has participated in several competitions and led concerts at RNCM. Recommended by her tutor, she also led her own solo concert in Manchester. Alison has been teaching for several years. Working in the UK and China has helped her develop a keen awareness of different learners' needs. She loves working with children as they always inspire her. Besides, her charming personality and high voice have often helped her to make friends with the children. Seeing their smiles and progress in class is really the best part of teaching for her. She is thrilled to join WIS as a music teacher and hopes to make the coming years memorable for everyone.

Michelle Wang

Ms. Michelle has 1.5 years of experience teaching Chinese with a focus on both adults and primary school students. She has a Master's Degree from Yunnan University with an emphasis in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language. Currently, she is teaching Chinese as an Additional Language. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, and traveling.

Cecilia has worked at Wahaha Schools for three years. She graduated from Ningbo University majoring in Elementary Education, with strong Chinese subject knowledge and effective teaching practices. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing badminton and traveling and collects all kinds of postcards during her trips.

Ms. Alicia is from Zhejiang Province and has 6 years of experience in teaching Chinese. She graduated from Shanghai International Studies University with a Master’s degree in teaching Chinese as a Second Language. She has taught in the US, Peru, and Shanghai. She speaks Spanish, English and enjoys hiking, reading and playing the piano in her spare time.

Ms. April has 4 years of experience teaching Math at Wahaha International School with a focus on differentiation. She has a Master's Degree from the Netherlands. Currently, she is teaching Grade 4 and Grade 5 Math. She believes that discovering each child's individual interests are the best pathways for kids to learn Math.

Ms. Chané de Haas has a BA Fashion Design degree. She has experience teaching in South Korea, Thailand, and she’s currently enjoying her third year in China. She has six years of experience teaching Primary, grades 1-3, focusing on English, Mathematics, and Science. Currently, she is teaching third grade. In her spare time, she enjoys designing, baking, listening to music, and being creative. “A creative, colorful, fun, exciting, and practical learning experience” is her teaching philosophy.
Ilse Kotze
MYP English Language and Literature
Ms. Ilse Kotze is a qualified English teacher with experience of teaching students from diverse backgrounds. For her the most fulfilling part of teaching is that every class experience is unique whereby teachers and students can share opinions and learn from one another. I love learning from my students, as she believes that one is never too old or too young to learn something new. She has obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (Summa Cum Laude), Bachelor of Psychology Honours degree and PGCE (Cum laude) from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa, majoring in English language, Communication Studies and Psychology.
Qiao Ye
MYP Science (G10) / Math & Science Special Event Coordinator
Ms. Ye grew up in China and went to Singapore for her high school and university studies with a full scholarship from the Singapore Ministry of Education. She earned her first-class honors degree in Material Science and Engineering from Nanyang Technological University and a Master of Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. Over the past 10 years, Ms. Ye has taught mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics, calculus in China, Singapore and Canada. She is very familiar with different international curricula including IB, A-level, and AP. As a pedagogical leader, she served as subject leader, IBDP coordinator, and international curriculum supervisor before. She's currently teaching Robotics & Programming to the PYP classes and teaching digital and product design to MYP Design classes. She also manages the WIS website, social media and assists in the marketing of the school.
Claire Wang
School Counselor
Ms. Claire graduated from Carson-Newman University as a Master of Counseling with a concentration in Professional School Counseling. She had 700 school counseling hours at Jefferson County High School and Northview Junior Academy in the United States. She offered students guidance classroom lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling service. She advocated for students regarding their academic, social, emotional, and career-related wellness. And she worked in Hangzhou as an elementary ELS teacher for about two years, and also took an education counselor position for about five years.
Andrew Owen
PYP & MYP Art Teacher
Andrew is an Art teacher with 25 years of teaching experience. He has created and developed his own teaching center in South Africa where he ran a Fine Art, Photography and Graphic design program for 25 years. Andrew began teaching abroad in 2016 when he was invited to join a private International School in Egypt. He has also written a complete History of Art Course. Andrew applied to work in China in May 2018. He loves working with children and enjoys teaching art which he has been doing for many years. Andrew will add much value to WIS because of his experiences and his own work as a professional artist and as head of his own art center.
Patt Mills
MYP Individual's and Societies Teacher
Ms. Mills started in 1998 with teaching in Turkmenistan and she has been exploring and living what she teaches. Which is investigating the story of our past while connecting that story to the present day in meaningful ways. After achieving her Masters in Teaching from Pacific University in Oregon, she went on to teaching Middle School in Egypt, Sierra Leone, Myanmar and now Hangzhou. This rich and colorful life has given her first-hand knowledge of our complex and connected world.
Joseph Grossi

Mr. Joseph Grossi has 12 years of experience teaching English with a focus on English as a second language. He has a Masters's degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on literacy. Currently, he has been teaching Grade 1 for the past five years at WIS. In his spare time, he enjoys long distance running and reading.

Ms. Jessie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education with a M.S.Ed in Elementary Education. Prior to joining WIS, she taught both 1st and 2nd grade in the United States.

Miss Dianna has 4 years of experience teaching elementary math. She has a bachelor of degree in Elementary Education in Canada and has a Teaching Certificate for both Canada and China.
Corné Muller
Grade 3 Teacher
Ms. Corné has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, and she has experience in teaching and working with children from different countries, i.e., South Africa, America, South Korea, Thailand, and China. Ms. Corné has seven years of experience teaching Lower Primary, focusing on Mathematics, Science, and English. She is currently a grade 3 Homeroom teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, making music, photography, and DIY-projects. She firmly believes in a fun-filled, engaging, and educational experience in a positive and safe environment.
